It Started in Eden

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth...God saw all that he had made, and it was very good." Genesis 1: 1,31.

What 'on earth' happened to all that Goodness?

Genesis 3:1 - 7 explains the origins of mankind's doubt and rebellion against God - the Creator.  We allowed ourselves to be seduced by promises of power and glory.  Our ancestors fell for the most critical form of misinformation mankind has ever known and to this day we still buy into it.

"The fool says in his heart, 'There is no God." (Psalm 14:1) and, in my opinion, a bigger fool believes he/she can "be like God." (Genesis 3:5)

This outrageous deception was the first time humankind would exchange 'the truth about God for a lie'. (Romans 1:25) and the consequences have been devastating.

We no longer live in the paradise garden created for us, but rather are labouring in a 'thicket of thorns and weeds' producing more of that same crop. To be sure there are still remnants of the 'goodness' our Creator placed within us, but that is systematically being diminished until most of us bear very little resemblance to the 'image of God'.

"What happened to me?"

That was the beginning of the post I started about two weeks ago.  Since that time, I have been in a state of quiet 'paralysis' - emotionally, verbally and spiritually.  It is difficult to keep abreast of all that is happening in our world today and not succumb to the feelings of absolute despair.  Even as believers in Jesus, it is difficult to keep our heads above water.  One can certainly identify with Peter's emotional uncertainty after having stepped out of the boat - with apparent great faith - to join his master walking on the waves, he suddenly became overwhelmed by the wind pummeling him.

"But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!" Matthew 14:30.

"It's scary out there!"

The wind is raging all around us today.  It is whipping furiously through every area of life.  Nothing is sacrosanct.

From Genesis 1:31 where God pronounced "everything good" the story of humanity moves forward into Genesis 3:6, where the reversal of our wonderful heritage begins to unravel.  By one single act of doubt and rebellion towards our Creator, we set the stage for the demise of the entire planet and everything in it - both physically and morally.  We are barred from the beauty of Eden and destined to wander through the wilderness of our own making.

Behold the New Eden - the Work of Our Own Hands!!

(To be continued...)

Rather than end this post on a note of despondency, however, I prefer to remind those of us who, by His Great Mercy, have been called 'out of darkness into His marvelous light;" (1 Peter 2:9) that though the hurricanes of falsehoods surround us, the Lord Himself has promised,

"I will never leave you nor forsake you',

So we may boldly say:

"The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear,
What can man do to me?"

Hebrews 13: 5,6

Just as Jesus reached out His Hand to draw Peter up from the stormy sea, He promises to lift us up from the discouragement of our souls and to preserve us from the wickedness of this fallen world.

The Scriptures encourage us that, "thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Cor. 15:57).

Global Social Tsunami

While considering what to write about in my first post of this new site, I was torn between two phrases; 'helter skelter' and 'social tsunami'.  Our world is currently experiencing an unprecedented upheaval in almost every area of life - from politics to ethics. The inhabitants of planet earth seem to be running 'helter skelter' screaming with our heads between our hands, like some crazed lunatic!
PLEASE...stop all the voices!!
I was going to say 'madman' but decided against it, because instinctively the insidious politically correct brainwashing indoctrination technique (remembering Justin Trudeau's now famous - or infamous - coining of the phrase "humankind") of the 21st century kicked in. This has so permeated - even my mind - that though I fiercely rebel against this egregious machine - unwittingly I find myself second guessing every single thing I think or - heaven forbid - say, lest I be charged with the hideous crime of a new form of social 'bigotry' or any number of 'deplorable' phobias. And, I might add, it's not the 'old tried and true phobias' that we've all come to accept as being unusual enough to require medical intervention - such as Claustrophobia; a fear of enclosed spaces, or Agoraphobia - an abnormal fear of being in crowds, public places or open areas. No, not at all! Those have become completely passe! (One wonders if they are even included in the Psychiatric Compendium today!!)
Buy now while still being taught!
We have now created a whole new genre of phobias which essentially prevents us from thinking anything that does not line up with the accepted 'norms' of our present day enlightened society.  Even the term 'normal' has now become taboo, because apparently there is NO normal.  We have become so individualistic as a culture that whatever any one person considers to be normal - just ISl!! We might as well throw out all those old psychiatry books because, apparently none of us has anything 'odd' or 'unusual' about ourselves anymore. We just are!! ("I think, therefore I am"? Descartes)   For that matter, why are we still offering psychiatry courses at universities??  I guess it's for those of us who refuse to conform to today's propaganda program!! Hmmm...I hadn't thought of that before!!

Oops...was that my 'out loud' voice?
Stay tuned for tomorrow's thoughts.  I have no idea what I will be writing about but my brain is so full of swirling bewilderment at our present day social catastrophe, that I'm sure something will pop out onto the page!!

Phew...even I didn't think of this one!!
