"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth...God saw all that he had made, and it was very good." Genesis 1: 1,31.

Genesis 3:1 - 7 explains the origins of mankind's doubt and rebellion against God - the Creator. We allowed ourselves to be seduced by promises of power and glory. Our ancestors fell for the most critical form of misinformation mankind has ever known and to this day we still buy into it.
"The fool says in his heart, 'There is no God." (Psalm 14:1) and, in my opinion, a bigger fool believes he/she can "be like God." (Genesis 3:5)
This outrageous deception was the first time humankind would exchange 'the truth about God for a lie'. (Romans 1:25) and the consequences have been devastating.
We no longer live in the paradise garden created for us, but rather are labouring in a 'thicket of thorns and weeds' producing more of that same crop. To be sure there are still remnants of the 'goodness' our Creator placed within us, but that is systematically being diminished until most of us bear very little resemblance to the 'image of God'.

That was the beginning of the post I started about two weeks ago. Since that time, I have been in a state of quiet 'paralysis' - emotionally, verbally and spiritually. It is difficult to keep abreast of all that is happening in our world today and not succumb to the feelings of absolute despair. Even as believers in Jesus, it is difficult to keep our heads above water. One can certainly identify with Peter's emotional uncertainty after having stepped out of the boat - with apparent great faith - to join his master walking on the waves, he suddenly became overwhelmed by the wind pummeling him.
"But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!" Matthew 14:30.

"It's scary out there!"

The wind is raging all around us today. It is whipping furiously through every area of life. Nothing is sacrosanct.
From Genesis 1:31 where God pronounced "everything good" the story of humanity moves forward into Genesis 3:6, where the reversal of our wonderful heritage begins to unravel. By one single act of doubt and rebellion towards our Creator, we set the stage for the demise of the entire planet and everything in it - both physically and morally. We are barred from the beauty of Eden and destined to wander through the wilderness of our own making.

Rather than end this post on a note of despondency, however, I prefer to remind those of us who, by His Great Mercy, have been called 'out of darkness into His marvelous light;" (1 Peter 2:9) that though the hurricanes of falsehoods surround us, the Lord Himself has promised,
"I will never leave you nor forsake you',
So we may boldly say:
"The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear,
What can man do to me?"
Hebrews 13: 5,6
